Applications will be considered at a public hearing held before the North Canton Zoning and Buildings Standards Board of Appeals. The owner/agent must eb present at this hearing. At the hearing, the owner/agent will be invited to present any information believed to be relevant to the application and will have the opportunity to tell the Board why the application should be granted.
Applications must be submitted by the 8th day of a given month to be evaluated at that month's meeting.

Please upload a to-scale plot plan showing the property to be affected, all property lines, existing and proposed signs, existing and proposed driveways or parking, streets and alleys, and the existing and proposed setbacks from all surrounding properties.
Please upload an area map or plat drawing of the property to be affected and all property adjoining and across streets or alleys from the property including indication of the current zoning of each property shown.
In order for the variance to be granted the burden of proof is on the applicant to convince the Board of Appeals that the following items are true:• Special conditions existing unique to the property in question;• Literal interpretation of the ordinance deprives the property owner/agent of rights enjoyed by otherproperty owners;• Special conditions resulting from actions not of the property owner/agent; and• The requested variance is the minimum variance that allows a reasonable use of the property orbuilding.
All applicants are required to pay the $75.00 application fee before applications will be considered. The fee may be paid online using the City's Payment Portal or by cash or check in person or by mail to the department of development services at 145 N Main Street, North Canton, OH 44720.
